I’m so confused about blog rolls! I’ve read that blogroll links are called farm links or site wide links are considered bad by Google. I thought that being on a blogroll was a reward, but everything else that I’ve read said it will send a red flag to Google, so I was wondering what the latest theory is and how many blog rolls would you have to be on before Google noticed a red flag. Also, one of my sites is only a couple weeks old, and I’m already building inbound links, and I’ve read that this can be a bad thing too if they see too many links from a new site.

I don’t think you should necessarily stop visiting blogs just because they won’t add you to your blogroll. I visit blogs based on how helpful I find their content.
